St. Joseph of the Holy Family is located at 168 Morningside Avenue, between 126th Street and 127th Street in Manhattan. The SCA is considering leasing this parochial school and converting it for use as a Pre-kindergarten and elementary school. The site has the 4-story school building at the southeast corner of the property on Morningside Avenue and the Convent at the northwest corner of the property fronting on 127th Street. The 31,100 SF 4-story plus Cellar building contains a cafeteria, kitchen, mechanical and electrical service rooms in the cellar, main office and a multi-purpose room on the first floor, and classrooms and offices on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors. As a part of the design team Shenoy Engineering was chosen to provide MEP and fire protection systems for the project. MEP design included upgrade to boiler/burner unit, refurbishing heating distribution, new all-air constant volume custom gas fired H&V unit for Gymnasium/Auditorium, separate H&V unit to serve Cafeteria-Kitchen, upgrade exhaust systems, new domestic hot water system, upgrade gas service, refurbish plumbing hot and cold water, sanitary drainage and storm drainage systems, new sprinkler in cellar; upgrade the building electrical service, provide receptacles in the classrooms, new FA system, new intrusion alarm, auxiliary alarm, exterior security lighting and theatrical lighting in the Auditorium/Gymnasium.
